The Edge: A Star Trek Discovery Podcast

Apr 27, 2019

Such Sweet Sorrow, Part II.

What are those damn red things? Who is the Red Angel? Why does Jett Reno love duct tape so much? After thirteen episodes of twist, turns, and speculation, we finally have the answers—at least to the first two questions. In a beautiful display of time travel, Michael Burnham set the signals to ensure that present actions allows past events to save future life. And, along the way, we were reminded of the many adventures had by the crew of the USS Discovery as the season-long storyline unfolded.

In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin discuss the Star Trek: Discovery season-two finale. We touch on the spectacle of the battle with Section 31, the amazing visual effects, and the varied—and sometimes spinning—camera angles. We also explore the concept of an open time loop and why Burnham must close it for her story to move forward. Plus, with season two in the books, we have a few predictions for that millennial jump to season three.
